Rover v. Scalito, 11 U.S. 2 (2005)

Iraq is our generation's Vietnam. Scalito endangers critical precedent that divides our nation. So while I marvel at the Democratic leadership's use of parliamentary procedure to bump the "Rover" scandal back to page one, thereby drawing some news coverage back to Iraq, Scalito will now surely skate his way unscathed through the Senate. Why can't the American proletariat digest more than a 15-second sound byte?

Update: Scalito's a nerd!

Because we have been trained this way. The "24 hour news" programs depend on anaylzing a 15 second sound bite to death and move on the next carcass. All the parlimentary procedure will do is bring up the Democrat v. Republican Fight and ignore the Libby/Scalito/Iraq story.

The Dems lack votes for a filibuster. Senators like Salazar, who precariously rode the extreme right-wing coat-tail of their opponents into office, can't afford to erode an already tenuous grip on power by supporting more parliamentary shenanigans. There's simply too many voters around who think Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs to church. (hat tip: SNL)

As for the pap-smeared pork, Americans need more vacucation.[sic] The Swedes get a sh!t-ton of both, and seem "hellah" smarter (and hotter) for it.

Sorry--the aliteration of your "pre-digested pap" (see above) got me going.

It was all a plot by left-sponsored PBS back in the 70's, don't you know... Sesame Street and all that... itsy bitsy sound-bites so we can understand the meaning of the Letter W and the Number 6 (with the chef falling down with his loads of cakes each time) training us to listen only for a little bit and only if there's slapstick comedy.

(tongue-partially-in-cheek... I watched sesame street like everyone else)

Did anyone else see Jon Stewart's take on the whole thing the last two nights? Very funny. the split screen of Reid/Frist, Santorium, Lott was perfect. Ripping both sides for just pure silliness and pettiness.
